Hillary Clinton Joins Jill Stein in Futile Recount Effort

It’s clear enough that one of the nastiest, most vicious elections in memory is going to remain a source of controversy at least until the inauguration of the new president in January.  Unfortunate, to be sure.  But not unexpected.

The latest source of turmoil surrounds ballot recount demands by Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate for president.  Of course, she has zero chance of winning the states she is contesting, not to mention anywhere else.  In other words, no matter what happens she won’t become president.  She knows it.  Trump knows it.  Hillary knows it.  Everybody knows it.

So why did she crowdfund the millions to pay the recount fees to the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, as well as the millions required to fund the necessary contingent of lawyers?

It turns out that if, as a result of those recounts, the winner in all three states were to be flipped from Trump to Clinton, Hillary would have enough electors to win the Electoral College on December 19th.

Has Stein just become a Hillary stooge, hoping for a “reward” if this effort works?

Hillary Clinton’s campaign will participate in vote recounts of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan if they take place, drawing a rebuke from Donald Trump’s team that the Democrat is being a “sore loser” and part of a “ridiculous” effort.

If Green Party candidate Jill Stein initiates recounts in those states as she intends, the Clinton campaign “will participate in order to ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides,” Clinton campaign lawyer Marc Elias said Saturday in a post on the blogging website Medium.com. He added that he doesn’t expect the action to overturn Trumps election.

Catch this remark?  “…the Clinton campaign ‘will participate in order to ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides,’ Clinton campaign lawyer Marc Elias said…”  It just doesn’t get any better than that:  Hillary Clinton, the Queen of Corruption, has her minions working to ensure that a political process “fair to all sides.”  While nobody with any sense could believe that for a second, it does make for some sick humor.  Might Hillary step out of the ethical sewer for once in her life to do something honorable?  Don’t bet on it.

Kellyanne Conway, who was Trump’s campaign manager and is now a senior adviser, was less conciliatory. “What a pack of sore losers,” she said in a statement. “After asking Mr. Trump and his team a million times on the trail, ‘Will HE accept the election results?’ it turns out Team Hillary and their new BFF Jill Stein can’t accept reality.”

“Rather than adhere to the tradition of graciously conceding and wishing the winner well, they’ve opted to waste millions of dollars and dismiss the democratic process. The people have spoken. Time to listen up. #YesYourPresident,” Conway said.

Well, as long as it’s the Democrats’ millions that are being wasted, the effort isn’t entirely without merit.  And it is nice to see Hillary’s campaign being called out on their criticism that Trump might not accept the result of the election now that Hillary is very close to doing  just that.

And The Donald has weighed in on the fracas.

Trump noted he had won 306 electoral votes on Nov. 8, to Clinton’s 232, the best showing for a Republican since 1988, and the most counties since 1984.

“This recount is just a way for Jill Stein, who received less than one percent of the vote overall and wasn’t even on the ballot in many states, to fill her coffers with money, most of which she will never even spend on this ridiculous recount,” he said. “All three states were won by large numbers of voters, especially Pennsylvania, which was won by more than 70,000 votes.”

Both Clinton’s chief election attorney and Obama administration officials claim, at least publicly, that they don’t expect the recount to change things.  Then why support it?  Are we to trust either the Clinton campaign or the Obama administration to tell the truth when it’s difficult to even use the word “truth” in the same sentence as the words “Obama,” or “Clinton?”

Not to be ungracious, but neither should ever be trusted.  So consider the sources of the following excerpt.

The Democrat’s campaign didn’t plan to initiate the recounts on its own because it hasn’t found “any actionable evidence of hacking or outside attempts to alter the voting technology,” Elias wrote.

A senior administration official, meanwhile, said in a statement that the government didn’t observe any increased level of malicious cyber activity aimed at disrupting the election on election day and believes the elections were free and fair from a cybersecurity perspective.

Elias also isn’t expecting the recounts to erase what he said was a 107,000 combined vote margin separating the candidates in the three battleground states and overturning the election of Trump, who is due to be sworn in as president in January.

Trump is not going to sit idly by while this charade continues.

Donald McGahn, who on Friday was selected by Trump as White House counsel, will be the Republican’s point person on the Wisconsin recount. He joined senior staff officials in briefings on Saturday regarding the latest developments, according to a person familiar with the Trump transition process who wasn’t authorized to speak on the record.

Unfortunately, it becomes imperative that Trump and his supporters remain vigilant against all efforts by Clinton, Obama, and their lackeys to play games with the results of this election so that Hillary’s dream remains only a dream.
