The Texas legislature introduced a bill this week that would allow cops to collect immediate payment for minor traffic offenses with a credit or debit card.
This completely circumvents the rule of law as citizens’ due process rights will be forfeited by pressure from police officers. The power this gives police will certainly cause an increase in abuse of citizens by law enforcement.
