The Heat is on Megyn Kelly’s Little Black Dress

Fox News, is in the news, for being too sexy, at least when Megyn Kelly is reporting from the Republican National Convention.  The adverse reaction people are having on Twitter to Megyn’s little black dress is one of those non-issues, meant to distract and perhaps drive ratings.

Fox News’s Megyn Kelly is facing backlash on Twitter for sporting a low cut, spaghetti-strap top — resembling a bikini — while covering the Republican National Convention on live television.

Her news network encourages male contributors to wear suits and ties.

Television reporters Ben Fajzullin and Meggin Leigh both asserted that “Unless you are covering a ‘light and fluffy’ event like a flower show, sleeveless dresses, and tops are inappropriate and can make you look unprofessional”.

And the Twitter railed against her with comments like:

“Megyn Kelly’s outfit is ridiculously unprofessional. So disappointing.

I guess it’s Hot In Cleveland? @megynkelly

Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson sued Fox News Channel Chief Executive Roger Ailes on Wednesday for sexual harassment, alleging her ex-boss wrongfully fired her after she rebuffed years of unwanted advances.

Ailes, also the network’s chairman, denied Carlson’s allegations late on Wednesday. The parent of Fox News, 21st Century Fox, said it had begun an internal review of the matter.

Carlson, 50, charged in a lawsuit that Ailes, a former Republican political consultant who built Fox News into the most-watched U.S. cable news channel, took her off the morning show “Fox & Friends” in 2013 and cut her pay because she refused to have a sexual relationship with him.

Lawsuits alleging sexual harassment typically name the employer as a defendant, but Carlson’s lawyer, Nancy Erika Smith, said in an interview that she had no reason to believe Fox condoned or authorized Ailes’ behavior.

Ailes was a consultant for several U.S. Republican presidents, including George H.W. Bush. He has been a confidant of 21st Century Fox Executive Co-Chairman Rupert Murdoch, who named Ailes founding chief executive of Fox News Channel in 1996.

Ailes said in a statement he would defend himself against “false” and “offensive” allegations.

“This is a retaliatory suit for the network’s decision not to renew her contract, which was due to the fact that her disappointingly low ratings were dragging down the afternoon lineup,” Ailes’ statement said. He added that Carlson had thanked him in a recent book.

Yet Fox News is bold in its reporting style and this is because of Roger Ailes’ vision.

He was also a showman. Fox had flashier graphics, brighter colors and a vitality its staid rivals lacked. The daytime show “Outnumbered” is a classic Ailes concept: four women in dresses, their legs prominently displayed, debating issues with a single male panelist.

One cannot ignore the beauty and brains employed by the Fox News Channel and the effective presentation of both assets.  If naked shoulders are really an issue, but legs are not, is there, not a ridiculous double standard?  Shouldn’t all the brilliant women where pantsuits like their male counterparts?

The ire over Kelly’s dress is absurd in view of all the real news that is occurring in our nation and throughout the world.
