When there are illegal and nefarious activities abounding, there is a wise adage that says to “follow the money.” That is often a reasonable path to discover the true motive for an action or event that may seem to defy a line of clear logic. One of the most glaring examples is the out-of-proportion bullying by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as it has sent huge forces of armed federal agents to force farmers and ranchers off of remote parcels of land in Nevada and Oregon.
In the case of Cliven Bundy, the agency started grabbing cattle from the rancher because of a disputed fee for grazing his cattle on “federal land” in Nevada. There is a very clear argument to be made that the federal government is not constitutionally permitted to “own” huge parcels of the United States, which in the case of Nevada amounts to almost 80% of the entire state land mass. But there are no doubt thousands of ranchers also running their cattle on federal land for grazing purposes, and the question arises regarding why the heavy hand of the federal government would come down on this one elderly rancher in Nevada. Just follow the money.
In the protest that blew up in January of this year, the conflict had to do with a trumped up arson charge against two ranchers who had burned some of their ranch to clear weeds to make it more productive. The fire spread to “federal lands,” and though the ranchers extinguished the fire without help, and the land, including the federal land, is now more productive than ever, the government insisted on jailing the two ranchers for five years. The ensuing protest by other ranchers led to the death of one of the rancher leaders caused by federal or state agents, with the video of the death showing that it was simply an execution. Once again, the question is why this was a cause for which the government was willing to murder a citizen? The answer once again is to “follow the money.”

DOES THE CONSTITUTION PERMIT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO OWN LAND?

Josephine County, Oregon — I can’t count how many times I’ve heard one of our county commissioners or state representatives say something like: “Federal law trumps state law” or “Under the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution, federal law is superior to state law.”
The Supremacy Clause does not declare that all laws passed by the federal government are the supreme law of the land. Here is the entire clause: “This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.”
Notice the part that reads, “laws of the United States made in pursuance” of the Constitution. This basically says that all laws and treaties must first be constitutional in order for them to be valid and the supreme law of the land, in pursuance thereof, not in violation thereof.
So does the constitution permit the federal government to own land? Yes it does, but there are very strict limitations. Our founding fathers were very specific concerning federal ownership and control of land. Article I, section 8, clause 17 of the U.S. Constitution gives the feds control of 10 square miles of Washington DC. It further states that land within the boundaries of a state may only be acquired if they first have the consent of the state legislature. The federal government is limited in it’s acquisition of land to four purposes, military forts, arsenals, dock-yards, and other needful buildings. Nowhere in the constitution does it grant the federal government the power to “own” millions of acres. The so called “public lands” that they currently control must be returned to the states.
If you’ve been paying attention lately, the Feds have been in overdrive in their pursuit to control vast areas of the west. The perception is that this is for environmental reasons; after all you can hardly turn the TV on or pick up a newspaper without seeing some dire news story about the environment. Global warming, climate change and sustainable development have become everyday terms.
In reality, federal control of our land has nothing to do with the environment or saving the planet, it’s all about money, power, and control. More specifically it’s about Agenda 21, the United Nations plan for global$#%&!@* The implementation of Agenda 21 is not only taking place at the national level, but is being pushed at the local level through the “International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives”, or ICLEI for short. Using the environment as a weapon, they are getting state, county, and city governments to implement the plan one piece at a time.
Josephine County Oregon residents just witnessed an attempt by our clueless county commissioners to implement a slice of Agenda 21 through four so called “junk ordinances”. County voters wisely rejected them by a wide margin.
Residents of Southern Oregon have witnessed the slow death of our local economy. This slow death is the direct result of federal land control. The Federal government controls nearly 70% of the land around here, and they have done a good job of closing it off to the public. Add a compliant board of commissioners, and a state legislature dominated by liberal socialist, it’s no wonder that we are in decline.
Ok, enough doom and gloom, what can we do to stop this? Can it be stopped or is it too late? Well folks, I have some good news for you, it’s not too late, and yes it can be stopped!
Education is the key to stopping, and ultimately reversing the path we are on. Get involved with a like minded group. Educate yourself, and then take action by educating others. Get involved with your local and state governments. Contact your representatives, and hold their feet to the fire!
When it comes to activist groups, I like the John Birch Society. They have been around since 1958 and have been very effective at slowing down the insiders plan for global$#%&!@*and control. Here is a quote from the first paragraph of the JBS Agenda: “The John Birch Society is an activist/educational organization whose members employ truth as their only weapon. We believe that when a sufficient number of citizens are made aware of what is happening throughout the world, and who is making it happen, our nation will adopt a better course — both at the ballot box and in reversing the steady plunge toward socialism and total government.”
I’m not trying to “recruit” you into JBS membership, but rather to help motivate you into action. If we are to save this Republic, it will be because people are waking up, and taking action. The JBS is by no means the only group in the game. There are a number of outstanding organizations that are working towards the same goal. Success will come if enough people get involved.
If you live anywhere near Grants Pass Oregon there will be an excellent opportunity for you to educate yourself and get involved. There is an event taking place on June 7th, from 9am till 5pm at the Josephine county fairgrounds. This free event, sponsored by Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilbertson and The Liberators, is being billed as the “Solution Revolution.”
From the Liberators website: “Attorney and Utah State Representative Ken Ivory, one of the authors and architects of Utah’s Statehood Bill, will talk about solutions that can be put in place now and SAVE our forests, wildlife, plant life, fish, water and most importantly, OUR LIVELIHOOD! Learn about Utah’s Statehood Bill and how their state and counties are preparing.
Learn about other states and county successes, and who’s moving forward with courage, conviction and solutions of their own. Our natural resources have AND CAN provide a much needed product and comfortable living for many generations to come!
