Gun permits and the subsequent purchase of weapons have risen substantially in Cologne, Germany since the mass sexual assaults on New Year’s Eve of 2015.
The police have lost the public trust, as their response to the assaults, committed by marauding gangs of “foreign men”, was paltry. Now citizens feel they must arm themselves in order to feel safe in public places.
Estimates of at least eight to ten application requests are being presented to the Düsseldorf police, spokesperson Andre Hartwich stated. At this pace, the 1500 requests for 2015, will be more than doubled, though Hartwich believes the interest will decrease.
Thus far, Frankfurt Police procedural office reports that they have had at least 13 applications a day, in comparison to the previous year’s one to two a day.
When crime happens and the police to nothing, whether by government compulsion or negligence, the people will rise up to protect themselves, it is human nature to protect one’s own life.

What people are talking about here is the almost absolute breakdown of a society due to a far left liberal President (Merkel) allowing mass immigration from 3rd world countries. I’m not sure if you have kept up with what’s going on in Europe but what we are seeing is the result of mass un-vetted refugees that have no intentions of assimilating which will change that part of the world for many years to come. With Obamas America and our out of control unemployment along with uncontrollable spending which has our debt and deficits at historic highs, add in the influx of South Americans that we have had over the past few yrs with the president wanting to surge in middle easterners and these issues only escalate! It has nothing to do with being a xenophobe, it has everything to due with our President! If he hadn’t lied about almost everything he has done then people might trust him, but as it stands he has done quite the contrary and our country is in it’s worst state it’s seen since the 1920’s. I believe we quit taking in refugees from the 40s-70s for the sole purpose of allowing assimilation which is key to being an American. It sounds like you are confusing what it means to be an American!
