Last year, Senate Republicans played a dangerous game with the Supreme Court. This year, it seems to have paid off in more ways than one. They’re getting the pick they wanted — and they’re aggravating their liberal colleagues in the process.
When Antonin Scalia unexpectedly passed last year, the bench faced a predicament it had avoided for decades. For the first time in several administrations, the White House had the opportunity to upend the ideological balance of the nation’s highest court.
Or, they thought they did, anyway.
Republicans refused to hold hearings for Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland. Instead, they argued that the next president — whoever that may be — should be the one to fill the vacancy. The GOP leadership were betting that the polls were wrong and that Donald Trump would stage an incredible come-from-behind victory.
When he did, all eyes turned to Trump — whose conservative credentials were questioned by many mainstream Republicans for the duration of the campaign.
But if you need proof that Trump nominated a capable constitutionalist to the court, watch him take down California Senator Dianne Feinstein on the next page:
Mental illness strikes everywhere
My wish and hope is that as a California we can sweep and drain the swamp in this state. There is so much corruption here and yet the liberals can’t see what’s happening right here in their own back yard. The governor is bankrupting the state and we pay the highest taxes for just about everything. He spends then needs the people to bail him out..raise more taxes..wake up people it’s time for change..
Kevin Posey – Many times, Republicans don’t even bother with the spouse and just enrich themselves. Bob Dole bought shares in Automatic Data Processing four days before GHW Bush signed legislation with new military data processing rules benefiting the company handsomely. New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg, who helped steer nearly $70 million dollars in government funds towards redeveloping this defunct Air Force base, which he and his brother both had a commercial interest in. In 2005, Speaker Hastert got a $207 million federal earmark to build the Prairie Parkway through these cornfields near his home. Hastert had also bought some land adjacent to where the highway is supposed to go. Five months after this earmark went through he sold that land and made a bundle of money. He made two million dollars. Elaine Chao, McConnell’s wife got Sec. of Trans. deal. Tom Price has been all over the news about his corrupt stock deals. Trump himself is having taxpayers foot the bill to put Secret Service agents up at Mar A Lago, with the profits going straight to his pocket. Finally google: Duke Cunningham, Felipe Sixto, Rick Renzi, Jack Abramoff, Kyle Foggo, Newt Gingrich, Catalina Villalpando, Wedtech, Joseph A. Strauss, Sewergate (particularly interesting with the new Supreme Court justice), J. Lynn Helms and David Durenberger. There is more, but I am not the one arguing that Democrats are the only ones who have some ethical issues. Maybe time to clean your own house?
Bill Nelson I’m an independent and it’s time to flush the entire government of corruption on both sides of the isle. But I will say this, it is the demorats who wish to fundamentally change our nation into a progressive socialist state, not the repubs…
If you crossed Al Franken with Diane Feinstein you’d have a Frankenstein!
Bread and Circuses
She’s a crook.
F**e story
Feinstein is a ditz
Sometimes, obstructing is what needs,to hapoen, especially when you have an administration trying to destroy the country. They didn’t obstruct nearly enough.
