This video details how to make a super-efficient water heater thermo siphoning process. Not only are all the parts he uses cheap or free discards, the project does not need electricity or solar power.
To match this video you will need:
Copper Tubing
Stove Pipe
Water heater
Valves
And of course, water and something to burn.
See the process video after the break and then get started on your own source of endless hot water:
so about $1500 in parts, the amount of time to assemble it, get proper burning permits, cost of water and wood (and cutting the wood), the time to stoke the fire, cost of having a secure area so you don’t burn down the house, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit……. is it really cheaper?
I’m not understanding to point here… Putting a nice big pot ontop of a fire would have the same results…
U can put one inside ur wood stove. Same thing
interesting
Yes I have a wood burning drum on 4 legs that will heat as much water as you need using just “waste wood”, tree fall but the trick is to insulate the tank and exposed lines for “maximum” results and storage.
I have a “barrel ” wood stove. We coiled copper tubing around it and put in a pressure, temperature valve then hooked to our hot water supply. The result…..free hot water from November to March.
Danica Ehrlich…show the Hubbs
There are companies that make these much better. Here’s what I have. Works great. Wood is much cheaper, 5 times less electric bills. It’s an outdoor wood stove-boiler system. All the heat and hot water I want.

“Have you tried to invert the coil? Cold in the top, warm out the bottom? I think it will work a little more efficiently, in that you should get a steady flow. Should not matter in the pumping as the coil is below the head in the tank. will still come out the top. It’s an old boiler room trick. 20 years in a cogen really big cogen plant. ty”
