GA Parents Outraged Over Muslim Assignments

Parents are understandably angry in Walton County, Georgia, because their junior high kids are being taught the tenants of Islam and being quizzed on it.

One quiz question asked, “Allah is the _________ worshiped by Jews and Christians.”

If the students did not put “same god”, their answer was wrong. effectively punishing the student for their religious beliefs that are counter to Islam.

In an email, a spokesperson with the Department of Education wrote:
“The standard for seventh grade given to educators is to “compare and contrast the prominent religions in the Middle East: Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. The teachers resource guide advises ‘This element is not an evaluation of any religion, nor is it a course in the belief system of any religion.’”

One very real problem is there is no comparison happening but rather an indoctrination into Islam without a side by side of the tenants of Christianity or Judaism.  According to one parent, the Ten Commandments were not brought into the conversation and learning process.

The State Department of Education is looking into it.
