Araud acknowledged the deleted tweet, explaining the response was due to the emotions he was feeling over the attacks. However, he didn’t back down from his statement.
Araud doubled down on the sentiment he originally conveyed, which was using a gun to defend themselves in such a situation is something “only in the movies.”
“Well, actually I received this message just as the moment we were under the shock of the attack,” Araud said. “So I am a fighter and I am a diplomat, so I decided to respond the way you did, but actually I erased the tweet I think 10 minutes later, saying it’s of no use.”
If the number of situations in America where concealed carry permit owners have saved the lives of several people is any indication, those things don’t just happen in the movies. However, most of the country (or the world) doesn’t know about those situations because the liberal media chooses to drown them out with celebrity gossip or ignore them all completely, all for the sake of their never-ending agenda to take guns from the American people. While hindsight is seldom useful in the case of tragedies, as usual Trump has a good point.
