If you want to “do in your” parents, that is one thing — maybe you hate them; but I love my old folks — they know what’s truly important and it ain’t you.
To a certain extent I agree with her, meaning we should be able to get doctor assisted suicides, in cases of terminal illness, mental or physical. I worked in a nursing home for several years because of laws we had to keep people who lost the ability to feed themselves, go to the bathroom, even talk alive because it is inhumane to let them be comfortable (pain free) and let their bodies die naturally. No we have to keep the elderly alive and miserable. Working with people whose bodies were no longer in their control but their minds were there the deep sadness they felt remembering being able to walk, run, eat without help, go to the bathroom even clean their own bottoms after such it is heartbreaking hearing the painful “I want to die” I wish we could state in a living will when I get to ________ point just let me die. I am sure I will get a lot of boos and statements like I am cold hearted, spend time in a nursing home I am sure you will see what I am saying, sometimes death is better than life for those whose bodies and minds are failing.
She needs to get into the van and try it out.
