Nations have always varied on their policies regarding immigration. For that matter, there’s a wide variety in laws regarding emigration, or even travel outside of your home country. For details, ask the North Koreans.
We’ve entered a time, however, when nations are being bullied into accepting migrants whether they like it or not. In this we see the fruits of globalism, and the nation-state is being destroyed before our eyes with supra-national bodies attempting to take their place as the ultimate decision-makers.
This explains the rabid opposition to Brexit and to leaders such as President Trump and French candidate Marine Le Pen. They refuse to bow before international bodies and are thus rightly considered to be obstacles to globalist objectives.
