Donald Trump: An All-American Tale

TRUMP FACT #3:  TRUMP’S MOTHER WAS MUGGED AND BEATEN AT 79 YEARS OLD…AND SURVIVED

Our president’s mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump, was an immigrant from the village of Tong, on Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, United Kingdom.  She was brought up in a Gaelic-Scottish-speaking household, born 1912 (the year that the Titanic sank) and was the youngest of 10 children.

Mary Anne’s father was a crofter and fisherman.  Interestingly, a crofter maintained arable lands within BORDERED or FENCED OFF regions.  At the age of 79, Mary Anne was mugged and beaten so severely by her attacker, it was feared that she would die. She sustained broken ribs, facial bruises, several fractures, a brain hemorrhage, and permanent damage to her sight and hearing.  A delivery truck driver, Lawrence Herbert, who witnessed the attack, personally apprehended the 16-year-old assailant, was met with privately afterward by Donald’s father.  As it turned out, Herbert, who was on the verge of losing his home to foreclosure, was given a check for the full amount of his home’s mortgage!

Mary Anne died on August 7, 2000, nearly one year after her husband and was laid to rest beside him in Queens.
