Don Lemon of CNN Refuses to Report on Susan Rice Scandal

If you need to get up to speed, the Susan Rice story involves the former national security advisor under Mr.Obama who has gotten caught up in the scandal involving the surveillance of members of Mr. Trump’s transition team during that period of time between the election and inauguration. It has been alleged that Ms. Rice requested the names of members of Mr. Trump’s team members associated with the intelligence gathered and then passed that on to Democratic operatives.

Mr. Lemon claims all of this is just a diversion as he runs interference for Ms. Rice and Mr. Obama:

“Let’s be very clear about this: There is no evidence whatsoever that the Trump team … was spied on illegally. There is no evidence that backs up the president’s original claim,” Lemon said.

“We will not insult your intelligence by pretending otherwise, nor will we aid and abet the people who are trying to misinform you, the American people, by creating a diversion.

”Lemon’s comments echo that of CNN national security correspondent Jim Sciutto, who earlier used similar language around the Rice story being “a distraction.”

“The idea that Ambassador Rice improperly sought the identities of Americans is false. There is nothing unusual about making these requests when serving as a senior national security official, whether Democrat or Republican,” said Sciutto, a former member of the Obama State Department until 2013.

Of course, for folks like Mr. Lemon, there is never any evidence of Mr. Obama or his associates doing anything wrong. He, like so many of his colleagues at CNN, see their jobs as defending the left as opposed to reporting the news.

Unfortunately for Mr. Lemon, another mainstream source, Bloomberg reported on this story, refusing to characterize it as a “distraction.”

Bloomberg News columnist Eli Lake reported Monday that Rice had requested the identities of individuals in intelligence reports associated with Trump’s transition team and campaign dozens of times.

So the story has support from media outlets including Bloomberg and Adam Housley of Fox News.

Mr. Lemon has the diversion concept right, just the source wrong. It is not the story of Ms. Rice’s alleged improper use of her position to support the Democratic Party that is a distraction. It is Mr. Lemon himself who is the distraction, as he functions as a propaganda minister for Mr. Obama as opposed to a professional journalist.
