‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ Takes Chris Christie to Court Over Criminal Release Program

Duane Chapman, better known as “Dog the Bounty Hunter” from his wildly popular television reality show, has stepped up to a new battle.  This one, however, is not on the streets chasing down the bad guys.  This one is in the courtroom chasing down a governor.

The state of New Jersey has gone the way of the Left Coast with a bill that will effectively release violent and non-violent criminals (convicted of crimes up until murder) into the streets on a “promise” that they will show up for their court date.  If they do not, just like Senate Bill 10 and Assembly Bill 42 in California, nothing will happen.  Why?  Because there are no longer bounties being placed on the re-apprehension of these criminals who skip bail!  No bounty…no bounty hunter.

It is as dumb as it sounds and now criminals are actually being encouraged to skip bail because there are no repercussions if they do!  Why has this idiotic law been initiated?  Very simple.  It saves money.

NO JOKE!  RELEASING CRIMINALS INTO THE STREETS WITHOUT REQUIRING ANYMORE THAN THEIR PROMISE TO RETURN FOR THE COURT APPEARANCE SAVES TONS OF CASH!  THE CASH-STRAPPED NEW JERSEY GOVERNMENT, LIKE ITS CALIFORNIA COUNTERPART, ARE SPENDING EXORBITANT AMOUNTS OF CASH ON IMPRISONMENT.  AS A WAY OF ALLEVIATING THEIR COSTS, THE GOVERNMENT LEGISLATORS HAVE DECIDED THAT PUBLIC SAFETY IS LESS IMPORTANT THAN CRIMINALS’ RIGHTS!

That’s not the last of this horrible story.  Tragedy has now struck.

One of these criminals who was released under this new short sighted program has committed murder and Dog the Bounty Hunter is now a plaintiff in court on behalf of the family of Christian Rodgers who was shot to death by this degenerate.

Gov. Chris Christie is about to go head-to-head with “Dog the Bounty Hunter” in court over the killing of a south Jersey resident — who was allegedly murdered by a man that was out on bond thanks to the state’s new bail system.

Duane Chapman, who became famous for chasing fugitives on reality TV, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Christie administration as part of his ongoing push against New Jersey’s bail reform measures, which took effect in January.

Under the new rules, a suspect’s release from jail is no longer based on cash bail and is instead decided by a judge — using a risk assessment that weighs the person’s criminal history with the charges they face.

In his suit, which was filed Monday in US District Court on behalf of the family of Christian Rodgers, Chapman claims that the 28-year-old was allegedly shot to death by Jules Black, 30, after he was set free by a judge who was using the new system.

“I wanted to help support the Rodgers family and to send a message to Gov. Chris Christie that law enforcement professionals like myself from across the country think he should be ashamed of himself for ignoring our advice and passing the dangerous, fake reform that I believe led to the tragic murder of Christian Rodgers,” Chapman said in a statement. “Christie should be ashamed of himself. The Governor needs to know that the eyes of every American who loves their family and wants to preserve law and order are on him right now.”

Advocates of this bill have said that this bill was introduced to keep the system from punishing the poor, but it’s obvious that it was a Leftist attempt at fanning the fires of racial politics by stating that more Blacks were being put behind bars in the Garden State than Whites.  The ridiculous part of that assessment is that if the poor would abide by the law, they wouldn’t have the added expenses of bail as well.  I grew up poverty-stricken as well, without a father, and my mother worked triple jobs (mechanic, receptionist, and waitress) to pay the bills with three young children.  Neither me, nor my brothers committed crimes.  Perhaps it was the fact that we dressed up and attended church every Sunday, or it was the fact that our uncle was a police officer and frequently rounded us up at curfew time every night at 8:00 p.m.  Whatever it was, my mother was a rock and she learned it from her mom and dad, an immigrant mindset that instilled in her a will to be independent and follow the rules.

As a parting shot, Governor Christie in his new bid to be reelected in a state where he is struggling to keep ahead of the polls, he managed to insult the bounty hunter, in essence referring to him like an amoeba or a nuisance virus.

The governor has refused to meet with Chapman to discuss the bail reform measures, even going so far as to ridicule the former television star after he came to Trenton to speak with him last month.

“Who would meet with him? Come on. Stop, ” Christie told reporters. “I got to tell you the truth. I’d meet with you before I’d meet with the bounty hunter to discuss this issue.”

Yeah, Governor…

God forbid you take some time out of your busy schedule to meet with someone who has a differing point of view.  Especially when your government is enacting asinine rules that are getting us amoeba killed.
