DoD Manual: Journalists Can Be Held As ‘Unprivileged Belligerents’

New Defense Department guidelines within The Law of War manual allows military commanders to treat journalists as “unprivileged belligerents” if they believe that they are sympathizing or colluding with the enemy.

The new guidelines were updated with vaguely worded provisions that commanders could interpret very broadly, say experts in military law and journalism.

Seeing how anyone who crosses the federal government in any way is now considered a ‘domestic terrorist’, it doesn’t take a genius to see that this is going to be used to quell dissent.
