More than two months after methane gas began erupting into the Porter Ranch environment, Governor Jerry Brown finally declared a state of emergency, after the residents began reporting a variety of symptoms from the fumes and gas.
The Gas Company claims that the symptoms are just from odor added to the methane and it is “just temporary, it’s not a problem, it’s not serious”. Scoffing at such a claim, attorney Rex Paris retorts, “These people aren’t stupid. We have children whose noses are bleeding every day, we have people who suffer from chronic headaches [and] are nauseous every, single day. How does that not become a serious issue?”
The only way to avoid sickness, one doctor told the residents, is to get far away. But obviously the gas is not able to be contained to a zip code and it’s reach easily could be beyong the 30 miles to the city of Los Angeles, where almost 18 million people reside as of 2013, making it “the second most populous city in the United States.”

I have wondered about that also!
Blame the Democratic Party who governed California in decades.

And piglosi
We need to open that wellhead further, releases much HS as humanly possible, definitely need to flood the valley and downtown Los Angeles with HS chase everybody back to New York! Then, when the Santana , not Santa Anna, winds clear the area we will have no housing problems, no gang problems, matter fact this is sounding pretty damn good! Drill baby drill Frak baby Frak if you cannot grow it you must mind it if you don’t like mining and growing get the$#%&!@*out
Anyone knows especially those of us who’ve been raised and around and near oil fields, that HS truly is relatively harmless in the low concentrations. As long as you can smell the rotten eggs you’re OK. It’s when you don’t smell the rotten eggs you’re dead. HS is only harmful in quantities of 300 ppb or more. Anything less than that is just a rotten egg smell that is truly harmless. I was raised up on the Hancock lease small lots and lots of HS , I ain’t dead yet
Voice to text sucks! Smelled not small. Smelled lots of not small lots of
It’s beyond being spooked Patricia Blanton Petrie…
Looks like lighting that might cause the internal gas explode too like a bomb? I understand in Marina Del Ray on the Hughes old airport land where they built all those condos they have a leak there too as well. How did they solve that problem or did they? Maybe they could punch holes around in the un populated area’s in the mountains until they can get the pressure to safe levels. Surely they have geologist and engineer’s working to figure this out. In Oklahoma we have leaks in a area where expenses home were from old abandoned oil wells in Tulsa, and their answer was no one wanted to pay to clean up as most who owned the wells were out of business so the owners that owned the homes had to move out and were not allowed to sell there homes but still had to pay for the homes to the bank and find another place to live. Not fair but I think all the oil company’s should be helping to pay for past and future clean ups regardless.
They need to head west!!
