The Authorization for Use of Military Force passed by the Senate is a rewrite of the Constitution’s War Powers clause and grants the President broad authority to deploy ground troops almost everywhere in the world, including the United States. That’s the warning being voiced by Democratic Senator Chris Murphy in response to the AUMF bill proposed by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
The bill would grant the president overwhelming control over where the US forces are deployed, which is scary for two reasons. The first is the obvious threat to American citizens’ rights. If the military can be sent to an American city based on loose justifications, they could be used to impose martial law and even empower a police state that has already grown too powerful.
The second reason is the plain call back to Manifest Destiny. Americans do not want to police the world. If the European Union is too busy handling the migrant crisis and Russia has finally come to terms with the harsh economic reality that their country is on the brink of collapse, it would leave the United States to ensure the sovereignty of all democratic nations. A solution that nobody would want.

This is exactly what the President and his cronis have been waiting for. It will destroy our country as we knowit, strip American citizens of any and all freedom and result in the collapse of this republic. To invest this much poser into the hands of one person, any person is ludicrous. To think that this bill was put forward by the Repulicans just shows how far our society has fallen. We have in the current resident of the White House a narcissist who has no concern for anything that is not Muslim and devoutly wants to become a demigod. This law is not needed nor should it be wanted by any clear thinking member of our society reguardless of party affiliation or religious preference. Those of you who have any doubts, should read the history of Germany in the mid to late thirties. We are on the verge of living in a dictatorship. Our representatives from both parties have already made it clear that they are not concerned about the general populace. I would caution them however, to ensure that they themselves don’t find themselves extinct, excess to the desires of a few money hungry, power grabbing people out for their own edification.

I get sick of people thinking if they vote for this guy or that guy he will take care of the american people. NO ONE has our back but us not Trump or anyone else. We the people do not forget that
