The Authorization for Use of Military Force passed by the Senate is a rewrite of the Constitution’s War Powers clause and grants the President broad authority to deploy ground troops almost everywhere in the world, including the United States. That’s the warning being voiced by Democratic Senator Chris Murphy in response to the AUMF bill proposed by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
The bill would grant the president overwhelming control over where the US forces are deployed, which is scary for two reasons. The first is the obvious threat to American citizens’ rights. If the military can be sent to an American city based on loose justifications, they could be used to impose martial law and even empower a police state that has already grown too powerful.
The second reason is the plain call back to Manifest Destiny. Americans do not want to police the world. If the European Union is too busy handling the migrant crisis and Russia has finally come to terms with the harsh economic reality that their country is on the brink of collapse, it would leave the United States to ensure the sovereignty of all democratic nations. A solution that nobody would want.

That would make sense. It would buy him time to explain hope and change. And the deficit that has tripeled and counting. But there is no way he would ever be for this. His team of guns protects him well. But he is smart enough to know our military won’t. Wait. Now that I think about it, he’s not that smart. But he will hide behind his protection. That’s what a liar does.
Oh, and that lib better be hiding in his gated community.
Martial law won’t go to far without the “force”, (read: minions and functionaries of the oligarch class)
-but our heroes wouldn’t turn on us… Right?
The history of police forces gives little reason to hope on that score,,,, think of that next time you’re being implored by MSM messages to support our law enforcement “heroes”.
He couldn’t pull it off because most of the military would refuse to follow his orders!!
Any addition to, or removal from, the Constitution of the United States, should be put to a vote by every eligible citizen of the country… Not decided by the President, Congress, or House of Representatives nor any combination of these…
Since we, the people of the United States, no longer hold any confidence that our elected and appointed officials are working in our best interest, an addition of this magnitude should not be allowed…
I believe our military will take him down if he tried.
I’ll be there but doubt we can get that many others.
Wait!!! Did he finish conquering Texas??
Reeta Halverson we all need to get the corruption out! Start NEW Government! For The People!
Trump and Hillary… same candidate essentially. They mostly have the same policies. Both are:
~ pro-choice: support abortion, planned parenthood
~ pro LGBTQ
~ pro status quo 1%, oligarchy, plutocracy (no commercial banking, wall street reform)
~ pro BIG government – “Defense” spending, social security, medicaid, Medicare = no change
(Trump to cut much smaller EPA, dept. of Ed.)
~ war hawks
~ Friends (when no one is looking). Hillary went to Trump’s wedding as his friend because she “thought it would be fun”… They are, you know, OUR people! >>> $$$$$$$
Trump: better on trade deals (TPP, NAFTA) and money matters internationally
Hillary: better on immigration, no silly wall.
Gun control:
Hillary, gun control but only domestically, Trump no. Hillary very weak on gun control outside the U.S (and bombs, missles, tanks, and planes). While secretary of state, she brokered weapons deals to multiple countries who then contributed money to the Clinton foundation. Not sure how Trump’s cabinet will be with military industrial complex sales for personal gain? (i.e. mass murder)
Racism:
They are both racist, Trump explicitly for all to see, Hillary implicitly via some of her work (lawyer for Walmart for 6 years 86-92′, protecting the Walton family wealth at the expense of families and minorities). And “Black Lives shattered” refers to the triad of laws by Bill Clinton in the 90’s that crushed black communities, laws that were pushed 100% by Hillary. The Clinton’s have been apologizing ever since for these failed laws (crime bill, welfare reform bill, and NAFTA). Bernie Sanders only voted for the crime bill but opposed the other two.
Hillary or Trump? flip a coin….
