The car accident in Australia left 16-month-old Jackson Taylor decapitated. He was airlifted to a hospital in Brisbane, Queensland, where doctors performed a miracle surgery.
Dr. Geoff Askin, known as Australia’s “godfather of spinal surgery,” led the operation, which involved attaching a halo device to Jackson’s skull, holding him completely still while reattaching his vertebrae using a tiny piece of wire, and then taking a piece of Jackson’s rib to graft the two vertebrae together.
Parents of Jackson are obviously calling this surgery and the recovery a miracle, as most would not have been resuscitated, let alone able to breathe or move. Jackson's recovery is stunning.
