Every time a police officer is found guilty of an egregious crime, bootlickers love to find any way they can to justify the criminal’s violence.
The typical justifications of police brutality you’ll hear are “It was in self-defense!” or “That’s what you get for breaking the law!”, but no matter what the reason, this isn’t how protectors of the community should behave.
This kind of reasoning has its consequences. When you make accommodations for cops who are known to be excessively violent, you should expect future violence not from just that cop, but other cops who get the message that their brutality is not only accepted, but praised.
For example, a man who elbowed, beat and abused a handcuffed man was rehired after being fired for excessive force. Guess what? He ended up beating using excessive force again.
