The restaurant Sneakers Bistro in Local Winooski, Vermont has removed a sign that had the word ‘bacon’ due to Muslim opposition.
In a Facebook post, the restaurant issued the following statement, ““We are here to serve people BREAKFAST, not politics. We removed the sign that was located on public property as a gesture of respect for our diverse community. There were also concerns raised about safety (emphasis added). Removing it was not a difficult decision. We still love bacon. We still love eggs. Please have the political conversation elsewhere.”
Is the ‘safety’ factor the restaurant cited due to their fear of what would happen if they didn’t remove ‘bacon’ from their sign?
They should be forced to put it back up.

EXACTLY RIGHT. Advertising a popular menu item is NOT POLITICS. Removing advertising to please a handful of people and their legalistic religious beliefs IS POLITICS. Handing away their First Amendment right to FREE SPEECH in favor of a few people trying to force their religion on all of us IS POLITICS.

I would tell the owners of “Sneakers” that we will have the political conversation elsewhere. IN ANOTHER RESTAURANT !!!! I would not patronize that restaurant.
They removed the SIGN, not the bacon.
If the UN-TOLERANT Muslims are offended by the American’s LOVE for BACON, then they should pack up their bags and move to a Muslim ( friendly? ) country where BACON is not served in public restaurants.
