It is becoming routine for police in some states to collect the DNA of people at random. Referred to as “stop and spit,” the practice involves swabbing the inside of someone’s mouth then sending off the sample for analysis. The results are then stored in a database.
It’s put forth as a way of potentially reducing crime. Of course, is a complete violation of the Fourth Amendment’s protection against unlawful searches. The old Marxist propaganda of giving up one’s freedom for security is a tried and true method of collapsing a free society under despotic rule.

What I am opposed to are “fishing expenditions,” whereby if you single out a sufficient number of random subjects, at some point you will find one you can nail to the wall. Forcing people who are under no suspicion for any criminal activity to undergo testing to see if they might have committed a crime is not how our justice system is supposed to work.
