Jamal Jones, his girlfriend Lisa Mahone, and their two children, 14 and 7, were going to a hospital to visit Lisa’s dying mother.
Cops stopped them who state that they pulled the family over because Mahone was not wearing her seat belt. After she showed her ID and insurance they asked for Jamal’s ID, who was the passenger.
Shortly after he stated he didn’t have it due to receiving a ticket, cops asked that he get out of the vehicle, which he refused to do.

In Ohio, not wearing your seatbelt is a secondary offense. if you do not show ID when I asked my police officer you go to jail until the Abilify you simple as that. Maybe you should read the law.
Be aware of any “Stop and Identify” laws in your state.
And you do have to show your ID if it’s a traffic stop.
Gee. When is not wearing a seatbelt making you a criminal? The guy was a passenger. He was wearing his seatbelt. The driver was not. You are not obligated under law to show ID. He wasn’t diving maybe he had no ID. You are not obligated by law to carry ID Unless he was driving the vehicle which he was not. This is not Nazi Germany where you need to carry papers. The cop is wrong. Not all cops are bad. Sadly the cops who are bad get busted on tape and form public perception. The cop needs to be fired. He obviously does not know the law and has anger issues.
Where is this stated in California law?
This is like a year old….
Not if your a passenger. You don’t have to only the driver. If it was a felony stop then yes you have to show is
Move on this was 4months ago!!
