The cop had already drawn his gun on Jamal after Jamal tried to get the ticket out of his bag to show the officer. Due to the excessive force Jamal refused to get out of the car.
It wasn’t long after the officer, who has had 2 previous excessive force lawsuits against him, broke through the window and tasered Jamal in front of his two children.
The cop didn’t have any reason at all to demand the ID from Jamal or the he get out of the car. Jamal and Lisa have now filed a lawsuit against the Hammond, IN police dept.
I understand now this is a constitutionalist site. As a police officer with 24 years working the road I have had to use force in a handful of circumstances. It’s not common and is always because the citizen did something that warranted the force used. So, that being said let me clue you in on how the law works. If you are driving a car and are lawfully pulled over for a traffic violation you are required to present your drivers license to the officer whether or not you believe the reason valid. If you do not you can be arrested and detained until such time you are identified. If the person refuses to present ID what are we supposed to do? Say sorry for bothering them and send them on their way? Maybe you should suck it up and try doing the job for a day and see how easy it is, particularly when there are people like you out there. If you refuse to present your drivers license for issuance of a citation and you refuse the lawful order to step from the car you will have your window busted out if necessary and you will definitely go to jail.

I see from Thomas’s Facebook page that he dislikes police officers. As nearly every post has to do with suspected police abuse. Being an arborist must be much more challenging Thomas. I bet you hate it when trees refuse to be cut down. Idiot!!!
