Jamal Jones, his girlfriend Lisa Mahone, and their two children, 14 and 7, were going to a hospital to visit Lisa’s dying mother.
Cops stopped them who state that they pulled the family over because Mahone was not wearing her seat belt. After she showed her ID and insurance they asked for Jamal’s ID, who was the passenger.
Shortly after he stated he didn’t have it due to receiving a ticket, cops asked that he get out of the vehicle, which he refused to do.

Why don’t you become a police officer?
To everyone on this post who “thinks” it’s against the law to refuse to show picture ID, YOU ARE WRONG !!! ONLY if you’re operating a motor vehicle is it then a REQUIREMENT !!! I do believe that he was obligated to exit the car, legally, upon the officers request. HOWEVER, it WAS NOT a lawful order for the ID !! Also, Jones made a near tragic mistake when he reached for ANYTHING !! Most officers, in most jurisdictions, MAY FIRE ON THE PERSON MAKING THE MOVE IF HE OR SHE BELIEVES IT THREATENS THEIR LIVES OR THE LIVES OF OTHERS. This is called, in police parlance, a “furtive move shooting” AND has been SCOTUS tested. Had it been me, I would have exited the car, repeated that I did NOT have any ID, HAD a document that PROVED that and invited the officer to get it himself if he didn’t believe me. The ID part of this is the most troubling for me. The cop knew this, but instead, wanted to make an “example” of Mr. Jones. This officer doesn’t deserve to wear the badge, and Mr. Jones should learn better traffic stop responses to any officers. Could have all been avoided !!
lock and load
Last summer I was approached by officers and asked to show my ID. I asked why and they responded that they were investigating drug activity in the area. I knew I had the right to refuse but knew I’d done nothing wrong and didn’t want to cause trouble for myself. They then asked me to follow them to their vehicle which I did. They asked to search my bag and I complied. I started asking them what the problem was, how long would this take, etc. They told me to shut up. It was very warm that day and I asked for the bottle of water in my bag- they refused. I started to panic- I’ve never been in any trouble before, never dealt with police interrogation, never had any reason to think if be in danger because of the police. That is when they started implying that they would be conducting a strip search- they had a female officer put on gloves. I hyperventilated and passed out from a combination of heat after being held in the hot sun without water for more than an hour and stress from the fear of this situation. I woke up in an ambulance. Let me be clear – I was not committing a crime and provided my ID when asked. I consented to search and they did NOT find anything illegal. Although I knew I had the right to refuse I respected authority and complied with their every demand. After the incident the female officer told me they were just doing their job. No apology.
Those of you who say that all this trouble could be avoided by complying are simply naive. If I had refused the situation may have been much worse but as it was I felt harassed an victimized for cooperating. I have not felt protected since. I have felt fear- of over zealous officers and a system that tells us we have rights but is suspicious of anyone that opts to exercise them.
Lol
he didn’t have his seat belt on,why couldn’t he get out of the car, personaly I think hes lucky he didn’t get hurt,
