Jamal Jones, his girlfriend Lisa Mahone, and their two children, 14 and 7, were going to a hospital to visit Lisa’s dying mother.
Cops stopped them who state that they pulled the family over because Mahone was not wearing her seat belt. After she showed her ID and insurance they asked for Jamal’s ID, who was the passenger.
Shortly after he stated he didn’t have it due to receiving a ticket, cops asked that he get out of the vehicle, which he refused to do.

As I said above, the Supreme Court already determined the answer. Can you imagine what a mess we’d have if EVERY traffic stop, EVERY call for service a cop responds to, the “suspect” forces the cops hand to try to hold court right there, trying to prove to the cop who’s right or wrong? The Rights you speak of are NOT being lost or thrown away, there’s a time and place to utilize those Rights and that’s in a court of law before a real judge and not on the street in a verbal dispute. Argue with a cop and it gets worse for you. How much in fines or court costs are you willing to pay? Wait for your day in court, if you are right, the judge will side with you.

I believe most police officers do a good job at following the law and treating people with respect, as long as the person being pulled over is being civilized. Then of course there are some officers that have no business in the law enforcement. This is case in point. It does pay to have a camera rolling anytime you are pulled over.
He should have shown the ID. Plain and simple
Thats far to literal an interpretation. Actual most Americans are to wrapped up in anything to peacefully protest
James says:
“What right? The right to not show ID?! Are you serious right now? Please tell me you are being sarcastic…”

You do no have to show the cop your ID if you do not have any Reason for the Cop to stop you and show him your ID.
