Ted Cruz’s citizenship continues to be a topic of discussion in the 2016 race, and it seems its one issue in which the far-left and the far-right might agree.
At the heart of the issue is the definition of “natural born citizen.” While many consider that to mean that one must be born inside of the country in order to serve in the Oval Office, others claim that one is natural born if you have citizenship at birth. The latter theory is backed up somewhat by the nominations of both John McCain and George Romney, both of which were born outside of this country’s borders.
However, since neither man made it to the White House, no Supreme Court case has ever been brought forth that specifically tackled the issue. As such, both sides continue to wage a war of opinion.

Nelson Miller Incorrect.
Will Evans
Cruz is a citizen but he is not a natural born citizen.
Wow, a male chauvinist liberal. Did it hurt much when you contorted down to that level for the sake of situational expediency? Perhaps you will also deny a wife the right of her own property when she marries, and advocate disciplining the little wife for disobeying her husband, too! You say the father has precedence, and that is also what it means. Those were the old days, and since then, there is much legal precedence that has established the woman as a viable parent who can bestow American citizenship on their child at birth. Liberal hypocrisy is so tiresome!
Will Evans A citizen and a natural born citizen are two different things. Cruz is a citizen but not a naturally born citizen. He was born in Canada to a Cuban father.
Nelson Miller – I accidentally used your name in the pos5 below prior to editing and using the correct name. My apologies!
Marti Rundus Your argument is for an act from 1790. Please read the artivle I posted.
Will Evans .. wrong! Obama had a foreign passport. America does not recognize dual citizenship!
Chris Hart Hapersett ruling by SCOTUS in 1875 defined natural born as two parents born on U.S. soil. That set a precedent. It is the only case where natural born was addressed.
