Comey: Lynch Wanted Hillary Investigation Called a “Matter”

At the time of the Lynch-Clinton June 27, 2016 meeting in Phoenix, Hillary Clinton was under criminal investigation for storing and sharing classified information on a private email server. Lynch steadfastly maintained the pair only talked about golf and grandchildren and didn’t discuss the situation with Mrs. Clinton.

A few days later, Comey held a news conference to declare he would not be referring the investigation of Mrs. Clinton to the Department of Justice for prosecution.

She [Lynch] told me to call it a matter, which confused and concerned me. But that was one of the bricks in the load that led me to conclude I have to step away from the [Justice] Department if we’re to close this case credibly,” Comey said.

Lynch’s order to not call the investigation what it was, a criminal inquiry into potential violations of The Espionage Act, mirrored how the Clinton presidential campaign handled questions about the FBI probe.

Hillary Clinton staunchly maintained the FBI was conducting a security review, which is absurd.

In an interview with Catherine Harridge of Fox News last year, Comey made it clear the FBI only conducts criminal investigations and that he didn’t know what was meant by a security inquiry.

Comey added during his testimony Thursday that he became concerned Lynch was aligning herself with the Clinton campaign by using the same language when referring to the criminal investigation.”

The testimony showed the lengths to which Democrats went to play word games regarding the Clinton investigation in order to obscure the true nature of the FBI’s work. It made sure that the FBI’s language coordinated well with Hillary’s Campaign.
