Colorado Spill Is FAR Worse Than What Was First Reported

It was first assumed that one million gallons of toxic mining waste leaked out into the Animas River in southwest Colorado. That itself was bad enough for the Gov. John Hickenlooper to declare an emergency to “ensure public safety and minimize environmental impacts,” which allowed for $500,000 from the state emergency fund to be given to response efforts.
