CNN’s Symone Sanders: Whites are Not Needed in DNC Leadership Positions

It’s unfortunate that after all the years since the modern civil rights movement got started in America in the 1950’s, that it can still be a very sensitive topic  Perhaps the degree that politics has been a vehicle for corrupting race relations should come as no surprise.  But it’s a sad commentary on any individual or group that stoops to the use of such tactics.

With that introduction, it’s disturbing to witness CNN commentator Symone Sanders making remarks that are the verbal equivalent of hanging out of a “whites need not apply” sign in front of the Democratic National Committee.  At least as relates to leadership positions.

After making supportive remarks about Congressman Keith Ellison who has ties to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, she made the following remarks in her interview on CNN:

We don’t need white people leading the Democratic Party right now.  The Democratic Party is diverse and it should be reflected as so in our leadership.

So much for Dr. King’s vision of a day of “man as man.”
