CNN Roasted in Tweets For Threatening To Dox Wrestling Meme Creator

Apparently, CNN management is oblivious to several age-old adages: “when you’re in a hole, quit digging; if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen; he laughs best who laughs last.”

At a time when real news is breaking, from the North Korean ICBM launch to a New York police officer being assassinated and President Trump’s landmark trip to Poland, CNN has indulged in the ultimate navel-gazing and bullying.

On his Twitter account, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo asked his followers if the network should dox the video maker. He also alleged the Reddit user has “bigoted and hateful material” on his social media accounts.

That tactic prompted other media to term CNN’s approach “thug journalism.”

Some news outlets and Twitter users identified the Reddit poster as a 15-year old, which unleashed a torrent of abusive tweets against the network. CNN responded by claiming the video maker is a middle-aged man, but no one has definitively resolved the issue.

Now Twitter is aflame with a new hashtag, #CNNBlackmail, as users come to the defense of Reddit user “HanAssholeSolo.” The hashtag is spreading rapidly as more GIFs and videos are posted to roast the network.

Making matters worse, some tweets provide a list of CNN sponsors and urge people to boycott their products.

Asked about the controversy at the joint news conference in Poland, President Trump made it clear CNN has seriously over-reacted while taking the opportunity to repeat and further spread the “fake news” label.

I think what CNN did was unfortunate for them, as you know now they have some pretty serious problems,” Trump said. “They have been fake news for a long time. They have been covering me in a very, very dishonest way.”

The problem the network faces now is that it keeps blowing on the fire’s embers and setting more brush fires for itself.

Now we have Senator Ted Cruz of Texas raising the serious question of whether CNN has broken a Georgia law.

Ted Cruz has entered the fray by citing both New York and Georgia state laws to claim that CNN’s alleged blackmail attempt could be construed as an unlawful act under the banner of either “theft by extortion,” or “coercion.”

Whatever the ultimate outcome, the brouhaha has inspired dozens and dozens of Twitter and other social media users to demonstrate their creativity by generating GIFs and videos that make a total mockery of what once was a news network and now is a national joke. #CNNBlackmail.
