This year’s winner of the American Muslim of the year award is Ahmed Mohamed, also known as “Clock Kid”. His claim to fame is getting arrested for making a homemade clock that looked like a bomb. While accepting his award, he claimed that he wanted to stop the type of discrimination that creates situations like the one he faced, which many are saying occurred due to racial profiling. Well, what did he think was going to happen?
Since then, the teenager has received all kind of publicity, including a Twitter hashtag #Clockboy and a personal invite from President Obama to visit the White House.
“Cool clock, Ahmed,” tweeted the president. “Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It’s what makes America great.”
President Obama’s tweets fall in line with an agenda he’s been pushing since first stepping in office. While he continues to push the false idea that Islam is a religion of peace, Ahmed has reportedly met with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashi, a wanted war criminal charged with genocide and crimes against humanity. This also comes amidst reports that the whole clock incident was nothing more than an attempt by a young boy to garner media attention, and if that’s the case, it certainly worked. Nobody should get an award for creating a bomb scare.
