Classified Report Supports Trump Claim that Terrorists Use U.S. Refugee Program

Texas Republican Rep. Michael McCaul disclosed parts of a classified letter from the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) on Monday, which contains new information that the Obama administration has withheld from the public.

“Individuals with ties to terrorist groups in Syria [are] attempting to gain entry to the U.S. through the U.S. refugee program,” the letter said, The Hill reported Monday.

“The refugee system, like all immigration programs, is vulnerable to exploitation from extremist groups seeking to send operatives to the West,” the letter added. It also referenced the fact that a small number of Iraqi refugees were arrested on terror charges in 2010.

“I believe the state of our homeland is increasingly not secure,” he said, promising Congress will do more to tighten our immigration policies.

“This is just the beginning,” he said. “Over the coming weeks, we will introduce a slate of new bills to keep terrorists out, based on recommendations from a bipartisan Congressional task force.”

While it is clear that Trump is being honest and straightforward in acknowledging that we must take action and revise our immigration policy in light of the recent violence launched by Muslim terrorists in the U.S. and Paris, the Obama administration has taken the opposite position, insisting the the U.S. must allow Muslim refugees in, find places for them to relocate to, and provide for their financial support for an indefinite period. It is not just foolhardy, it is dangerous and absolutely ignores the public’s reasonable concern for their own safety.

Trump Was Right

While Trump was justified in his call for greater immigration control, the classified letter from the National Counterterrorism Center calls into question the honesty and integrity of the Obama administration as they continue to insist that the refugee program will screen out evil-doers and that Americans are safe and should not worry.

The White House offered no direct response to the NCTC letter, but Press Secretary Josh Earnest defended the government’s screening process.

“Those individuals who seek to enter the United States through the refugee resettlement program do so only after undergoing the most intensive screening of anybody who attempts to enter the United States,” Earnest told reporters on Monday.

In what has been widely called the “mulligan” address from the Oval Office Sunday evening, President Obama tried to reassure Americans that his strategies are working.  “The threat from terrorism is real, but we will overcome it,” the president said.

Obama has offered no new initiatives on how he will deal with the threat of terrorism, and his blatant disregard for the well-being of American citizens and his overt solicitousness to Muslim immigrants is outrageous.

It certainly calls into question his commitment to protect the safety of the nation, and intensifies questions about his mysterious relationship with the “religion of peace” which has proven to be anything but that. We may never learn what Obama’s true connection with Islam is, but for now we should trust him with our welfare as much as we trust it with the Muslim jihadi.
