Candidate for Libertarian Party Chair Strips on Stage at National Convention

If Libertarians want to be taken seriously as a viable alternative to Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, party chair candidate James Weeks probably did not help their cause at last weekend’s Libertarian National Convention.

Something you’ll never see at a Democrat or Republican convention: A candidate for Libertarian Party chair on Sunday danced and stripped down to his thong before leaving the stage amid a chorus of boos.

James Weeks announced immediately after his striptease, which was performed to music, that he would drop out of the race, adding, “I’m sorry, that was a dare.”

He began his routine by telling the gathering at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida, that “I thought we could use a little bit of fun,” then began dancing as he removed his suit, tie and shirt.

Some delegates to the Libertarian National Convention clapped and danced along at first, but he lost the crowd after stripping down to his skivvies and black socks.

“Is this what it means to #LegalizeFreedom? I have officially seen too much stripping at the Libertarian Convention,” said Stephanie Ebert on Twitter.

It is unlikely that when Libertarians call for more transparency in government this is what they mean.  Words simply cannot describe the, uh… interesting series of events that happened on stage Sunday.  Watch the video below if your stomach is up for it.
