CAIR Upset At New Tennessee Bill, Demands Students Learn Islam

CAIR is claiming that House Bill 1418 in Tennessee is “an anti-Islam bill that is “tied to Islamophobic claims”  The bill would prevent all teaching of “religious doctrine” until students reach the last three years of high school.

Parents of the Tennessee school children were indignant when they saw that their students were being taught The Five Pillars of Islam, with no counter point from another religious viewpoint. Their outrage only escalated when students would get their answers wrong on quiz questions like, “Allah is _______ as the Christian and Jewish God.” If the answer was not “the same”, then their answer was wrong.

CAIR is unconcerned with the rights of all religions being equally represented and only concerned that Islam is allowed to be taught.

“The introduction of the bill is being fueled by rising hysteria over the false claim that middle schoolers are being subjected to ‘Islamic indoctrination’ because the basic tenets of Islam and Muslim world history is being taught as part of a state-approved curriculum about the impact world religions have on history,” the Muslim civil liberties group said.”

The bill does not keep the discussion and learning of religion from students, but pushes it back until they are mature enough to comprehend it.

“I think that probably the teaching that is going on right now in seventh, eighth grade is not age appropriate,” the Republican said on Friday, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press. “They are not able to discern a lot of times whether its indoctrination or whether they’re learning about what a religion teaches.”
