Michael Korte and wife Laura Whitney from Glendora, CA face $500 in fines and even criminal action if they don’t turn their brown lawn green again, which died because they were trying to comply with California water regulations.
Don’t you just love the government’s ability to coordinate their activities?
On Tuesday — when the couple received the letter — state regulators authorized fines up to $500 for overwatering lawns.‘Despite the water conservation efforts, we wish to remind you that limited watering is still required to keep landscaping looking healthy and green,’ the letter stated.
It included pictures of the dead lawn with a red line through it, a weedy line similarly crossed out, and finally an uncrossed green lawn with a sprinkler.
‘It is telling me I’d better get my lawn green and I have 60 days to do it,’ Laura said.Ironically, on the same day the couple received the letter the State Water Resources Control Board gave local agencies power to fine for overwatering lawns to help reduce water consumption as the state is in the third year of record low rainfall.
Should the couple wish to improve their lawn they’ll likely have to water it every day.
‘It seems like you’ll be fined if you overwater but we will be fined no matter what,’ Laura said.
This is another reason to leave California.
Just one of MANY reasons why I left California, because I accepted the honest truth that the grass IS greener on the other side.
Your fined $500.00 if you use over a certain amount of gallons of water- and fined if your grass isn’t green- either way Cali is going to get an extra $500- gotta feed the illegals and provide healthcare for them, right?? That’s number 1 priority- taxpayers be damned!
Get f**e grass ……………. throw down some 2nd hand turf …
All smart American true to the constitutions freedom liberty loving people should move out of California .let the humanist progresses liberal Marxists .have it then when it’s bankrupt take it back kick them out to Mexico .rebuild it back to it’s glory .
wow
Either way, pay up!
I’m glad that i dont live there
I do not see how this is the homeowners fault but I do see too much nannying in California!
use green spray paint!!!
