Bruce Jenner Named ‘Woman of the Year’

I am woman, hear me roar my disgust at Glamour Magazine who has insulted all the XX Chromosomes in the United States by picking a cross-dressing man for “Woman of the Year”.

Bruce Jenner has not come up with a cure for cancer, not operated on a dying child, or opened a food pantry in the slums, but has gone from gracing the Wheaties cereal box as a gold winning Olympian to being a Photo-shopped cross-dresser on Vanity Fair, and this last fact is why Glamour Magazine wants to name him “Woman of the Year”.

Criticisms are already piling up from women who find the choice of Jenner to be demeaning, and are falling into two main camps. First, out of all the real women in the world, could Glamour not find one worthy of the title of Woman of the Year without needing to fish in the male pool of boys dressing as girls?

Second, what in the world has Jenner done in the past year—other than get a makeover—that qualifies him as a model for achieving woman around the world?

Jenner will never be able to live up to this title as he cannot birth a baby, nurse a child, or just live a lifetime in a woman’s shoes, experiencing the highs and lows, the beauty and the pain, that being female affords.

Or, as writer Laura Meyers put it, “What has Caitlyn done for womanhood other than simply become a woman?”

“It’s what she does as a woman, to overcome struggles of womanhood, to advance womanhood, to inspire womanhood, that deserves an award,” Meyers writes, noting that Jenner “hasn’t even made a sandwich yet.”

Glamour got this intrinsically wrong and hopefully their readers will recognize what a slam on women this truly is and rage against this insulting nomination.
