Border Patrol Council President Rips Paul Ryan Over Proposed Delay in Funding Border Wall, Voices Strong Support For President Trump

Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd spoke out in an interview with Stewart Varney on Varney and Co. this past Wednesday in support of the President’s strong border position.

President Trump promised he was going to secure the border and part of securing the border is putting in place the proper technology and resources that allows us to be successful. And a border wall in strategic locations is one of those things that must get done.”

While the funding for the wall continues to be a hot issue, a dramatic improvement in border security is already underway. President Trump’s call for tighter immigration enforcement has resulted in illegal border crossings dropping to a 17-year low.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 16,000 undocumented immigrants were apprehended and illegal crossings decreased 30% in March.

Judd noted that the first significant Trump policy change was to immediately eliminate the “catch and release” policy implemented by the Obama Administration.

Just the simple promise we’re going to enforce the laws, the way the laws are written, has caused illegal immigration on the border to drop exponentially.”

Whether you lean left, right, or in the middle, you have to be a fan of what he’s done for the Border Patrol, for border security. He’s done more in the first 100 days than the last two administrations have done in 16 years.”

Judd said that he’s never seen such a quick drop in illegal crossings. He attributed the change to “the handcuffs are being taken off of the law enforcement agents and we’re putting the handcuffs back on the criminals.”

This past Tuesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions visited the U.S.-Mexico border where he reemphasized the tough stance on immigration.

I am issuing a document to all federal prosecutors that mandates the prioritization of these immigration enforcements. Starting today, federal prosecutors are now required to consider for prosecution all of the following offenses often not prosecuted in the past.”

The first round of contract bids related to the border wall has already happened. April 4 was the deadline for proposed designs for wall prototypes to be built in the San Diego area in order to determine a final design. Contracts for the prototype construction are expected to be awarded around June 1.
