Program to Send Illegals Back Being Abandoned
In a shocking reversal of policy, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are being told to release illegal immigrants and no longer order them to appear at deportation hearings, essentially a license to stay in the United States, a key agent testified Thursday.
What’s more, the stand down order includes a requirement that the whereabouts of illegals released are not to be tracked.
“We might as well abolish our immigration laws altogether,” suggested agent Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council.
“The willful failure to show up for court appearances by persons that were arrested and released by the Border Patrol has become an extreme embarrassment for the Department of Homeland Security. It has been so embarrassing that DHS and the U.S. attorney’s office has come up with a new policy,” he testified before the immigration subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee.
The biggest change: Undocumented immigrants are no longer given a “notice to appear” order, because they simply ignore them. Judd said that border agents jokingly refer to the NTAs as “notices to disappear.”
“Not only do we release these individuals that by law are subject to removal proceedings, we do it without any means of tracking their whereabouts. Agents believe this exploitable policy was set in place because DHS was embarrassed at the sheer number of those who choose not to follow the law by showing up for their court appearances. In essence, we pull these persons out of the shadows and into the light just to release them right back to those same shadows from whence they came,” he said.
“Immigration laws today appear to be mere suggestions. There are little or no consequences for breaking the laws and that fact is well known in other countries. If government agencies like DHS or CBP are allowed to bypass Congress by legislating through policy, we might as well abolish our immigration laws altogether,” Judd concluded.
It is beyond cynical of the administration to pretend that they are enforcing the immigration laws while making it impossible for those tasked with enforcement to do their jobs. It is also outrageous that the safety and security of the nation, both physical and economic, are sacrificed for political ambitions. This is the same administration that will soon claim that it is “impossible” to return so many illegals to their own country, when it is the administration ensuring that those numbers will continue to explode.
The lawlessness of the Obama administration is stunning, and the willingness of the Republican party to ignore these abuses of power by Obama is equally upsetting. Whether the nation will continue to thrive with the influx of illegals who generally come with few skills and no known background is anyone’s guess. It remains to be seen if the incoming president will be able to undo the damage done by this president, and if he or she will even be willing to do so.
In addition to ignoring the immigration laws and allowing countless thousands of illegal aliens across the border without tracking them or enforcing immigration laws, the U.S. border patrol is now being disarmed by the Obama administration. Jeff Prather, a former drug enforcement agent, is sounding the alarm and indicating that our agents will be defenseless against well-armed Mexican drug cartels and federales that challenge them at the border.
U.S. border patrol agents are being slowly disarmed. Many have lost their rifles and are left to patrol our border ‘sharing’ a rifle with a fellow agent.
“And now they’re seriously concerned. Because if they’re concerned enough to reach out and contact me and reach out so we get this message out, they are not only frustrated but they are in fear for their lives,” states Jeff Prather, a former drug enforcement agent who now operates the Warrior School in Tucson, AZ. Agents have reached out to him about losing their rifle.
These agents are being stripped of their weapon by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Offices of Border Patrol and Training and Development, who takes their weapon stating it is not fit for use. They promise to get the agents a new rifle, but it never appears.
Prather states that the actual reasons given are not sufficient to take the rifle, such as a faulty firing pin, prompting Prather to believe that the reason for disarming the agents is political.
The Obama administration is lawless, out of control, and driven by political and ideological motivation that completely dissolves the idea of national sovereignty and identity. Where are the national leaders who can stop this outrage. Perhaps the only solution is a new American Revolution to remind the administration and supporters on both the left and the right that this nation is of the people, by the people, and for the people, and they are only public servants, not autocrats and dictators who can rule at will.
