John Bolton does not play footsie. This is part of what has drawn criticism toward him in the past. He does not speak in the gentle terms the left demands of a diplomat — or of a presidential-staffer, for that matter. Many accuse him of being a war-mongering neocon. I am not sure he is that. But he certainly does have the mentality needed to rid the Trump administration of the last of the Obama Shadow Weasels.
The more we listen, the more we are prepared to give Mr. Bolton a real chance at accomplishing a badly needed house-cleaning.

This was not an easy article. On the one hand, Bolton has been identified as a neo-con in the past, a group I believe our audience despises. So how to say something nice about him since he was appointed by President Trump, someone our audience really likes. And Bolton’s insistence that he is going to clean house of Obama holdovers should play well with our audience.
I hope it works well.
“Draining a swamp” the size of Washington likely requires strategies that don’t always make sense to those of us who are largely watching matters develop from the outside.
I agree, it’s a good point to make.
