A third-party assault on Trump has been part of Kristol’s #NeverTrump game plan, ignoring the fact that in doing so, he is effectively campaigning for Hillary.
His newest presidential name tease is none other than McCain, after spending time and money at a fundraiser in D.C. for the Senator.
Like many of Kristol’s picks, this one will also be “dead on arrival” like David French was.
It also appears as if the supposed savior of the #NeverTrump movement isn’t even a #neverTrump-ite himself.
“What do I do? I vote for Donald Trump,” National Review writer French said in an interview on the web show HuffPost Live before the Iowa caucus when asked what he would do if Trump wins the nomination. At the time, National Review was in the headlines for its “Against Trump” issue.
“I’m not one of these Republicans who said, or conservatives who said, well I’m just going to take my ball and go home,” French added.
From the looks of it, David French may be dead-on-arrival should his announcement become official. Maybe Kristol better go back to the drawing board before it’s too late.
The conservative primary challenger, Dr. Kelli Ward, running against Senator McCain had this to say about the Kristol movement.
“Hillary Clinton supporter Bill Kristol is the worst sort of establishment hack,” she said in a statement to Breitbart News.
It’s really no surprise that he’s helping John McCain raise big bucks from the big government crowd in DC. Thankfully, conservative donors all across America who want to retire McCain are donating to our campaign at www.kelliward.com.
Both have worked hand in hand with Hillary and Obama to send weapons to jihadists and ISIS. Now both are working to divide the Republican party by undermining our nominee. That’s why John McCain is losing the general election in a reliably red state to a rubber stamp Obama Democrat.
John McCain has always had one foot across the aisle, but now the other is in the political grave. The very fact that he is thinking about running as an independent shows how endangered he is in the primary now that he is facing a conservative champion who will finally mix the mortar to fix the border.
McCain was almost John Kerry’s Vice Presidential nominee in 2004. After he loses his primary, he would be a prime contender for Secretary of Defense in a potential Clinton administration due to his lenient stance on terrorist interrogation. Hillary would give him a blank check to arm ISIS some more and give them cupcakes in a safespace once they have been captured.
Meanwhile, this list of “I wonder if” candidates has one name after another scratched off. Names like:
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Mitt Romney, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), and others on his hypothetical shortlist of third-party candidates that he could run if Donald Trump becomes the Republican nominee.
Other names floated include Carly Fiorina and Nikki Haley. Is this a sign that Republicans would rather self-implode than let Trump win in November, or is it a sign hat his nomination, now more than ever, seems to them an impending certainty?
This newest tweet from Kristol, extolling potential virtues of McCain as the man who would get behind a RNC rule change, just keeps the progress toward a Hillary defeat in suspended animation.
After the meeting Kristol also tweeted out a story about McCain, offering his support for a convention revolt against Trump. The goal would be to change the rules of the RNC convention to unbind delegates so that the establishment can replace Trump. McCain offered his support.
