The study of biblical prophecy can become a life-long project and joy. It can also be the source of much confusion and even controversy. As anyone knows who has spent much time studying the doctrine of eschatology, or last things, there is considerable debate over the proper way to interpret these Scriptures. This debate exists even among evangelical Christians who hold to the inerrancy of the Bible. Such is the difficulty of the task.
While a study of the end times is not the purpose of this article, it is helpful to understand the context of where our discussion will go. A proper study of eschatology requires the harmonizing of relevant passages from both the Old and New Testaments. Just reading Revelation doesn’t cut it. Scriptures that inform this study are scattered throughout the Bible, although some books address the topic more thoroughly.
Another decision the interpreter encounters is determining when passages are meant to be taken literally and when they are symbolic. Or maybe even both. Figures of speech are used, just as we use them in our normal conversations. How should those be interpreted? More to the point of this article, how should we take the numbers that are used in prophetic passages? Again, even those evangelicals who uphold the doctrine of inerrancy can still differ, hopefully in a friendly way, on the proper methods of interpretation.
So what are some prophecy scholars saying now in the light of some remarkable happenings in our world? More on page two.
Been saying for awhile how I’m ready to leave this evil world. Not suicidal either. Some of us understand this.
Has anuone eber listened to Kim Clement’s prophecy in 2007
Wow, just wow…lol
So many people predicting end of times from the greatest selling fiction ever written…lol. wow
You my good friend are an idiot!. Study to show thyself approved. There is no fiction in the truth of the word of God. Youd know that if youd study it
God poured out his WRATH on the old covenant HARLOT in the first century. ” The LAW brings wrath.” Read all about it in Revalation n the historical narratives of Josephus “Antiquities” n “Wars of the Jews.” The END was NEAR of all the old, seen, temporary, external things associated with$#%&!@*to the law. 1 Pet 4:7; Heb 8:13.
The NEW is of the unseen, eternal, internal order, of the spirit. ” The flesh counts for nothing; it is the spirit that gives life.”
Jesus came in his father’s glory n revealed himself to those who were waiting for his revelation in the first century conflagration , bringing on THEM that refused the seal of God in their foreheads n clung to the fleshly law written on their foreheads n hands. Those who had the mark of the BEAST received the curses of the law: sword, war, famine, plagues, beasts, woes, tears, sorrow, death. Angels ordained the old covenant n angels administered God’s wrath upon them. All their objects of worship were idols of wood n stone: stone temple, wooden ark, stone tablets, wooden altar, cherubim, etc ALL of which were UNLAWFUL images if things in heaven n earth.
“My people perish for lack of knowledge.” Well who has deceived you n has kept you under their authority, against the order of the LIVING GOD who is our only authority? Matt 23:8-10.
Stop listening to man n ask you Father who has been reconciled to you n restored what Adam lost. We don’t need mediators or spiritual authorities in the new covenant kingdom that was fully established by the end of the old Jerusalem, temple n Holy City. WE are the temple where God tabernacles, the new creation in Christ Jesus.
Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O Lord.
