There’s a growing demand coming from the fringe — well, let’s hope it’s the fringe — demanding reparations for sufferings caused by slavery in America as well as for the sufferings, primarily of African-Americans, in the years since its abolition. It’s a radical idea that cannot be supported economically or ideologically.
Before going further, it must be stated emphatically that the practice of slavery is abhorrent. That it occurred in America is a stain on our history. That it occurred throughout the world for millennia, is a stain on humanity. No amount of words will remove the fact that this inhumane practice has been part of the human condition. Those who worked for its abolition deserve our admiration and gratitude.
However, demands for trillions of dollars in reparations to the descendants of those who suffered under slavery in America in not supportable. More on page two.
Let the Dems take care of it. They were the ones who had slaves and wanted to keep them!
And blacks owe whites 80 trillion in welfare fraud .
I don’t owe nobody a damn thing I do what I do
There is not a person living in America, at this time, that has ever been a slave. And what about all the indentured white folks at about the same time, do we owe them too? Who sold the people into slavery, was it their own people? Go after them!
It is a fact, the “first” slaves were the Irish, in particular Irish children, mod over a decade before the black African. So know your history “professor”. And we’re treated, believed to be, abused, starved, killed, sold and forced to be less valuable than the black slaves ever were. So the blacks owe the white Irish everything.
Just goes to show he got his degree out of a ACLU cracker box. Worthless as he is.
Another a hole wants a freebie. What about all the white and black people That die free to free the slaves. Besides was it not a black that in the US own the first slaves. Was it not blacks in Africa that sold hunted and capture blacks. Go after their kin for the freebies that our lazy asses want instead of working!
Stupid
Wrong
My family never owned slaves, so you’re out of luck
