Australia Admits That Gun Control Laws Have Failed

“While Australia has some of the strongest firearm controls in the world, illicit firearms remain the weapon of choice for criminals.” – Justice Minister Michael Keenan of Australia

What is shocking about this quote isn’t the information Mr. Keenan provides.  It’s that he has to state something that should be so obvious to everyone.  That criminals choose to use guns to commit crimes is news?  And that criminals don’t mind breaking gun laws in order to commit their crimes is a revelation?  Only in the mind of liberals who let their anti-gun agenda trump reality.

So we find that Australia has had to admit that its very restrictive gun laws have not kept guns out of the country.  In fact, leaders have confessed that over a quarter-million illegal firearms are in circulation.  So their next step is to declare “amnesty” as part of a program to get people to surrender these firearms.

Australia on Friday announced a gun amnesty for next year after a criminal intelligence report estimated there were 260,000 illegal firearms in the country.

“The amnesty will provide an opportunity for those individuals who, for whatever reason are in possession of an unregistered firearm, to hand it in without fear of being prosecuted,” Justice Minister Michael Keenan told reporters in Melbourne.

Anyone concerned about gun rights is well aware that this isn’t just happening in Australia.  Anti-firearms advocates world-wide pursue the same agenda, just with different tactics.
