The most valuable naval assets the US deploys are its aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines. Unlike the subs which remain hidden, our ten aircraft carriers remain in full view. For anyone who has ever see one in person, the things are just overwhelming. They cost billions and take years to construct. The loss of a single aircraft carrier, let alone several, would be catastrophic.
They remain a primary method by which the US projects power around the globe. Accompanied by cruisers and destroyers (and probably a submarine), a carrier task force is formidable indeed.
Typically we see our carriers, or at least some of them, deployed around the world, frequently in the Middle East. For a brief period of time right now, that’s not the case. More on page two.
Whats up Obama ?
The article is partially true in that we do have most carriers in port.
BUT, it was not due to Obama’s orders. The Navy admirals doing their routine naval operations handle deployments and such. I looked some things up.
Oddly enough, we only had one carrier deployed on an active warfare footing in 2016. The “Harry S. Truman”, deployed in the Med and was actually doing warfare and strikes. No other carriers were deployed in active warfare.
Here’s where they all are now. Reportedly 3-4 of them could get under way and deployed in less than 24 hours if need be.
The “Harry S. Truman” is in Norfolk, VA for resupply and R&R after being deployed into combat in the middle of 2015.
The “George H.W. Bush” is in Norfolk, VA for maintenance and testing but was “delays” and now will reportedly deploy in early 2017.
The “Eisenhower” is in Norfolk, VA for the holidays after being deployed in the Atlantic since Jan. 2016
The “Stennis” is in Bremerton, WA for the holidays after being deployed in the S. China Sea since Jan. 2016
The “Ronald Reagan” is actually in it’s home port in Yokosuka, Japan, so it’s actually listed as “deployed”.
The “Carl Vinson” is in home port San Diego for refitting and will deploy to the western Pacific this month.
The “Nimitz” has been in port Bremerton, WA for what was planned as a 16 month large scale maintenance. But it turned into 20 months and supposedly it will redeploy sometime in 2017.
The “Roosevelt” (in port late 2015), is reportedly in port for different routine maintenance items.
The “Lincoln” (in port 2012) is also reportedly in port for different routine maintenance items.
The “Washington” (in port Norfolk, VA for a four to five year Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH)
Our new 11th carrier, the “Gerald R. Ford” is expected to be commissioned in 2017 and first deployed in 2019.
So that’s what is going on. Nothing to do with Obama trying to get us attacked or such.

OPEN THE SILOS, DECLARE DEFCON 4 UNTIL PRESIDENT TRUMP IS SWORN IN.
THE GOOD GUYS HAVE EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL……..DON’T KID YOUR SELF………….
Yes, in 5 different ports.
Or in the South China Sea or the Mediterranean.
Sad
we are still in the south china sea.
I bet someone is preparing for an attack and our p***k president is part of it
Yeah, like I don’t know that John; I only served 22 yrs in the USAF. But decisions like these are not taken lightly and have been thoroughly vetted before the CiC is briefed. IF, and we don’t know if this is false news like seems to have run rampant lately, if this is true then there will surely be contingency plans as there are always a plethora of them.
