The Confederacy has long been a controversial topic in the United States. While the state has long been associated with racism and slavery, many modern southerners view the Confederacy as an important part of southern heritage.
Until recently, relics of the Confederate States of America have been allowed throughout the south for historical purposes, but in today’s politically correct climate, many of those monuments have been forcibly removed.
Last year, statues of Robert E. Lee, the commander of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, were removed from locals parks in Virgina. The contractor who removed the statues found his Lamborghini torched in response.
Now, more statues of the former general are coming down across the state — at huge cost.
Read about the latest Robert E. Lee statue to fall on the next page:
Everytime I see these actions I think of what IS IS has done to historical sites. We are no better when we start to eliminate our history. Lee is considered one of the greatest generals in our history and this is nothing but disrespect
Actually they keep wanting to remove these statues because a warped view of history. They don’t even know the true history that they are complaining about. They are trying to erase ALL memory of our history based on just a part of the story.
This is because of Obama. and all the Democraps. His legacy.
Only to the people who’s history it does not belong to,can it be controversial. Surly not to the South. It should never be remove to please a few who do not even know our History. If they are so offended by our history ,let them go somewhere else.
Shame ,One group trying erase history.
All MLK streets and road names must go!!!!!!
I’m so tired of hearing the phrase political correct. People need to grow up and stop trying to erase history.
THAT IS A WAR MEMORIAL…
If you hide from and do remember the past you are destined to repeat the past. Only cowards do these sort of things
Go ahead and remove it from the landscape as well as the history books . Will that make it go away ? I will still teach my family history while others will just have a meth to hate because they will never have the truth about our country
