7,000 Cubans To Cross the Border Into Texas

“In Cuba, there’s nothing. There’s no freedom. We came from Cuba because the pressure that we have there,” Giovanni Acosta said.

They arrive in hundreds each day at the Laredo Point of Entry to be processed by the Boarder Patrol and allowed entry.  The action at the Hidalgo International Bridge has grown.

For 40 years, Jose Angel Rodriguez has made his living driving a cab.  He said he’s seeing more Cubans crossing the port of entry.

According to one man, a cab driver, “They get here every night, in the morning, and at night they get here. They go to Laredo, too,”

How is it that Cubans can enter the United States like this?  Under a legislative holdover from the Cold War which grants “a form of amnesty that allows them to stay and be given all the benefits of refugees” entices Cubans to come to America.

Congressman Henry Cuellar’s office said Cuban refugees are coming to Laredo’s Point of Entry every day and the numbers are increasing. They’re coming from Central America through Mexico to the border.

Is it just a matter of time that a radicalized Muslim, posting as a Cuban refugee, gains amnesty at our southern borders?
