Journalist are known to go to extremes for a story, to dive behind enemy lines or present a non-bias interview with people of controversy. Santilli believes he is within his rights as a journalist to have been present the day the stand-off between protestors and federal agents took place. Jeff German of the Las Vegas Review-Journal writes:
Following a hearing, Chief U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro said she did not buy Santilli’s argument that he was a journalist covering the April 12, 2014, armed confrontation between the Bundy family and law enforcement. He hosts the Internet-based “Pete Santilli Show” from Cincinnati on YouTube.
Navarro ordered Santilli to remain behind bars after finding that he is a danger to the community and that he cannot be relied on to make his court appearances.
His lawyer, Chris Rasmussen, argued that Santilli’s free speech rights were being violated and sought the defendant’s release with conditions.
But First Assistant U.S. Attorney Steve Myhre countered that the case was not about free speech, but rather about the armed assault of federal agents.
Santilli, who also is charged in the armed takeover of a government wildlife refuge in Oregon this year, was an “active participant” in the conspiracy to take back the Bundy cattle that BLM officers had rounded up in 2014, Myhre argued.
He used his talk show to recruit militia gunmen to the Bundy ranch, the prosecutor alleged.

At Rutgers University’s recent Commencement Speech President Obama suggested that when you hear someone talk about the “Good Old Days” …take it with a Grain of Salt! In other words, BE SKEPTICAL! I TAKE OFFENSE TO THAT! The reason why, is that “MODERN TIMES have brought their own set of problems!”
We have had improvement in medicine, nutrition, longevity, but have “VALUES” kept up with technology? In the “Good Old Days” we had COMMON DECENCY and COMMON SENSE!
In the “Good Old Days” we could send our children to school, & not fear they would be victims of sexual abuse by teachers or coaches. Now there are far too many cases of such reported incidents! In the “Good Old Days” virtue & modesty were considered a GOOD thing; today, we have young people sending nude photos of themselves over their cell phone or computer. There was a time, you could be fined or put in jail for owning pornographic material. Today, there is pornography on the Internet for ALL TO SEE, including the YOUNG!
Let us not dismiss the “Good Old Days” & older Americans too easily! Let us HONOR these OLD AMERICANS, who paved the way for the newer generation, despite their many hardships, sacrifices, & lack of modern conveniences! Improvements in technology & science did not translate to improvements in MORAL VALUES or COMMON SENSE, when we hear about talks of the great things of today.
We can take THAT with a GRAIN OF SALT, & even a couple of aspirins to rid us of the many headaches this Modern Era has brought us!!
