23: Corey Stewart, Senate, Virginia
Corey is best known for implementing the nation’s toughest crackdown on illegal immigration, resulting in the county turning over almost 8,000 criminal illegal aliens to U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE), leading to a 48.7% drop in violent crime.
As a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment, Corey led the charge to remove all county fees associated with the concealed carry permit — the first locality in Virginia to do so. Corey has kept taxes and spending in Prince William low, saving residents $205 million, and securing a AAA bond rating status for the county — one of only 36 such jurisdictions in the nation. Prince William County is ranked the #1 locality in job growth in Virginia and #3 in the nation.
Corey successfully navigated the passage of the largest tax cut in the history of the county leading to a 30% lower tax bill than any other county in Northern Virginia. Small business is a priority for Corey – who cut in half the time to permit a business.
Corey has led as a strong conservative and continues to win by larger margins in a county won by Obama twice and Hillary Clinton in 2016. Winning 4 times, Corey is the only Republican to win countywide since 2009. In 2015, Donald J. Trump tapped Corey to lead his Virginia campaign. Corey is a leader and fighter in the Trump movement.
In the 2017 Republican Gubernatorial Primary, Corey won 7 out of Virginia’s 11 congressional districts including the 10th and the 11th, which are majority Democrat districts in Northern Virginia. Stewart won Prince William County with 60% of the vote and came within less than 200 votes of winning Loudoun County. Stewart dominated in the Shenandoah Valley, Southside, and Southwest regions— winning over 75% of the cities and counties.
When faced with enormous pressure from the mainstream media and Republican establishment, Corey stuck to his guns and led the toughest crackdown on illegal immigration in the nation. As a U.S. Senator, Corey Stewart will never back down to pressure from lobbyists, special interest, the media, or even others within his own party.
Corey was born in Minnesota to a working class family. Corey’s father worked his whole life as a longshoreman and instilled in Corey a hard work ethic at an early age. When Corey received his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, he was the first member of his family to graduate from college. Corey then earned his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Corey now works as an International Trade Attorney with his own practice.
Corey and his wife of 22 years, Maria, reside in Woodbridge, VA, with their two sons, Isaac and Luke. Corey is 100% pro-life and he and his family are parishioners at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Woodbridge, VA.
