So precarious is the situation that military men and women face today that they not only have to worry about verbal attacks but physical ones as well. Austin Freni had just watched the Mummers Parade in Philadelphia when the 19-year-old serviceman was brutally assaulted by a group of hoodlums. The thugs have yet to be identified and Freni is currently recovering in hospital, where is set to stay for some time:
“Austin’s in rough shape. He’s pretty banged up,” she told FOX 29.
But now, he lays in Jefferson University Hospital with severe facial injuries after being jumped while leaving the Mummers Parade festivities last night at 3rd and Oregon in South Philly.
“Group of 10-15 guys walked by me (making) derogatory comments towards Austin’s Army jacket,” she explained.
Then she says one of the young men struck Austin before others piled on.”

Surely there were other witnesses. I hope they catch these worthless dregs.
